About this course
Most people accept the first number they are offered. They do it because the conversation is uncomfortable, because they fear the offer will be withdrawn, and because nobody taught them that the number was a proposal rather than a decision. The cost is larger than it appears. Salary compounds: raises are usually percentages of the current figure, and the next employer often benchmarks against it. A gap accepted at twenty-five persists at forty-five. Negotiating well is not aggression or gamesmanship. It is research, a clear sense of your own position, one well-timed request, and the willingness to hear no. This course covers the money conversation from the first screening call through to the signed contract — and then inside the job, where most of your lifetime earnings are actually negotiated.
