About this course
A professional online presence does three things a CV cannot: it is **findable** by people who are not looking at your application, it is **continuously visible** rather than read once, and it **accumulates evidence** over time — recommendations, work, contributions, relationships. For most professionals that presence is primarily LinkedIn, supplemented by a portfolio where the work is visual or technical. It is not universally important: some sectors and many public service careers barely use it. But where it matters, an absent or neglected profile is a disadvantage that costs nothing to fix. This course covers building a profile that works, growing a network deliberately, using the platform to find work without appearing desperate, and managing the wider digital footprint that employers will find whether you curate it or not.
