Weekly pay with 0 base pay

Is it just me or is there a lot of jobs throwing around “commission earnings“ as a way to avoid base pay? I’m not talking about car dealership jobs or real estate. But small businesses that are looking for either in store/mall stall sales rep or D2D sales rep. I went to this interview not so long ago that mentioned about how there’s “opportunity” to earn $1000+ a week but expects you to work at least 9 hours a day with 0 breaks plus mandatory weekend shifts. The original posting lied about a weekly base pay too, it was originally labeled as hourly + commission. I didn’t find out until I asked the recruiter regarding the salary and he basically chucked at me saying how if you are hungry for money you can get it.
