The number of niche job boards out there is wild

I work on a job search tool, and besides supporting the major job boards like LinkedIn and Indeed, one feature allows people to monitor custom job boards. Recently I looked through the domains people had added. I expected a handful of popular sites. Instead, I found well over a hundred different job sites . Sure, there were well-known ATS platforms like Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday. But after that the list became almost endless. There were startup-focused boards like Startup.jobs, gaming sites like Hitmarker, climate-focused boards like Climatebase, nonprofit boards like Idealist, university job portals, government jobs, regional sites like Jobindex (Denmark), SEEK (Australia & New Zealand), Wuzzuf (Egypt), and dozens of country-specific boards I’d genuinely never heard of before. Some people don’t even rely on job boards at all. They simply monitor Google searches or company career pages directly. It made me realize something. When people say that finding a job has become a full-time job, they’re not exaggerating. It’s no longer enough to check a couple of big job boards. Jobs are scattered across hundreds of different places, and no single website seems to have everything. Maybe that’s one of the reasons job searching has become so exhausting. Not necessarily because there are fewer jobs, but because discovering them has become so fragmented. I honestly didn’t expect the list to be this diverse.
