Rant: Boss always belittles me for being remote
I'm a peon app support lady for an F50 financial firm and all of my team is in NJ but I work remotely from western PA because I was grandfathered in via acquisition. The local team members go in Tuesday, Thursday and Fri. I am not required to go in because my previous company allowed a stipulation that I'm fine working from home due to an existing condition and that came over in the merger and I made sure that would be transferable before I took the job. It's been almost 6 months now and we have weekly team meetings on Monday where my boss issues announcements and we discuss anything team-worthy. Then my boss ends the call by saying "alright I'll see you all in the office tomorrow. Oh wait - EXCEPT FOR YOU JEAN GUESS YOU'LL BE HOME IN YOUR ROBE AND SLIPPERS HAHAHAHAH". Sometimes it's "guess you'll be home watching Netflix while we're here working" or "guess you'll be home sipping tea on your porch while we're here in the office!"...that kind of stuff. Really burns me because it's not illegal or HR-worthy but it doesn't add any value and frankly feels completely denigrating. I do my work well and I get what feels like appropriate compensation each year, but man I can't stand the little evil digs that get thrown out there. I never hear anyone else being criticised like that without being criticised. I know - responses will be like "well time to look for a new job" but man I hate this system where if you are being fed remarks like this you have to go somewhere else and go through the job seeking process all over again instead of someone just fixing the problem that makes me feel I have t…
