Potentially Sketchy 1st Job?

So I finally got my first job at 19, but it seems a bit odd. I live in Canada, which has rather strict rules about how employment works. However, this job says that the employees do not legally count as employees, but contractors. This means we have to request pay rather than being paid. Taxes are also not deducted from our paychecks as they usually are. But we have fixed hours we are told to come in, so in effect we are employees. It's just so odd having to invoice for my pay... There are a variety of other things, but overall it seems very, very informal. Should I be concerned at all, or since its my first job, should I just work through it?
