In limbo

I’m looking into a position in consulting and applied for a position with a larger firm. I had an internal referral and met all the required and preferred qualifications. It’s been a month…and nothing. In the system, my application says “review,” so I know I wasn’t “dispositioned.” I was expecting a quicker process. I haven’t received anything that says they aren’t interested. Thoughts? I applied directly and haven’t spoken with a recruiter (yet)? Any thoughts or feedback would be helpful.
