how to get a job

I’m 17F trying to find a part-time job in retail or fast food, and I apply online with no luck. I drop off my resume, and they tell me they only hire people who are 18 and older. Honestly, for a while I gave up because I had a shadowing program for two weeks, and every employer asked about my availability. I didn’t know how to explain that I had a prior commitment for those two weeks. Anyways, that’s over now, but for the next two weekends I still won’t be free. I want to start trying again. Any suggestions? Should I try dropping off resumes again? It just feels like dropping off resumes at the same places a month later doesn’t really do much, does it? On top of that, I’m just so discouraged. A friend got fired from their job and found a new one within a week! I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong or what I should do better. I guess I’m looking for suggestions or maybe just some motivation. I’m heading into my senior year, and I’m still going to look for a job, but my availability will be even more limited once school starts. What should I do?
