Help me fill a gap in my resume

Hello, I got bit of an unethical request. I got a years gap in my resume currently and I feel like it affects my job search significantly. In theory I could have been working for one of these AI training firms. Can someone who has worked for these firms tell me how to put such a thing into my CV? How have you described working for these firms, so that the experience could be used in applying to other jobs? (Just for reference: I work in building design (civil engineering)). Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
