Forever stalled

I have 10 yoe in finance+tech, took a year off and I'm looking again. While I get interest in my profile/experience and people commit to scheduling interviews, most of the times I'm facing a lot of delay in actually the actual scheduling of interviews from the verbal commitment, resulting in barely 2 separate loops in 3 months of searching and 5 prospects practically in limbo. Consulting, tech, banks toh name it, same thing. I've been told that it's because senior level hiring is slow and the market is bad, but come on. Rant over.
