Difficulty finding my first job

Hi guys I didn’t really think I’d ever make a post onto this subreddit but I genuinely need help. Okay so I’m F19, it’s summer break for me rn, I am a university student but I’m back at my home town for a couple of months. Anyways I’ll be straight up, I have never worked in my life before, and this summer I’ve been trying to get my first one. Obviously I spent hours applying to places on Indeed, company sites, etc. Last week I actually went up in person to some places that the new city I live in(moved last year). Anyways I asked for the hiring manager or manager from restaurants, fast food, grocery store places and even handed them a resume and told them my availability. (I got a formal handshake from a manager and really thought I was gonna get a job there lmao). I have gotten countless rejections from places that seemed to be entry level (cashier jobs at retail stores & retail places, fast food jobs, etc.) Anyways I haven’t heard back and I just really need help figuring out and navigating applying to jobs and stuff. The only money I had was from fasfa and I got a couple thousand which I used while at college, and now I basically have nothing. I would like to add that since I have no formal experience of working on my resume I put volunteer work I did during my first year of university. I helped out in downtown with homeless families and their kids, pets, etc and gave out necessities. I also spoke at a women’s shelter in san diego on the importance of taking care of their health and we did a little trivia game to uplift these ladies as well. And I put these care packages together for families in need (all ages)…
