Adding education to cv

Hi so i’m currently looking for a simple part time to do whilst I’m applying for grad roles as I know it might take a while before I land a role , I’ve heard with many jobs putting your degree and grade on your cv lowers your chances of landing the role for more simple jobs like a hotel receptionist or community host is that true because i’d be deemed “overqualified” or do I ruin my chances if I remove them from my cv ?
