31F, unemployed for over 6 months. I'm starting to lose hope.
Hi everyone. I'm 31F and spent several years working in corporate before transitioning to a remote Executive Virtual Assistant role for a US based client. Unfortunately, I was laid off, and I've now been unemployed for more than six months. Since then, I've submitted countless applications through LinkedIn, Indeed, OnlineJobs.ph, Upwork, and other job platforms. I've had multiple interviews, some even reaching the final stages, but I still haven't received an offer. When it comes to work, I'm very adaptable and a quick learner. I've always been the type of employee who can handle whatever task is given to me. In fact, my previous corporate employer has told me they'd welcome me back because they appreciated how well I performed in high pressure environments. The reason I haven't returned is because I'm trying to protect my mental health. It's been almost a year since I lost my mom, and I'm still grieving. She meant everything to me, and there are still nights when I cry myself to sleep thinking about her. Because of that, I'm hoping to find a work from home job with a kind and supportive client while I continue healing. It's incredibly discouraging to keep interviewing and getting rejected or ghosted. I know I'm capable, and I know I have a lot to offer. I just wish someone would finally give me the opportunity to prove it. If anyone has been in a similar situation, how did you get through it? I'd really appreciate any advice, encouragement, or even leads for remote administrative or executive assistant roles. Thank you for reading.
