Senior Executive / Assistant Manager - VAT, TAX & Compliance

Context:

FVL – Fatiha Venture LTD., a leading import and distribution company, is looking for a dynamic, results-driven, and highly qualified Operations Manager to lead and oversee our core operational, sales, and supply chain divisions.

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and ensure all financial transactions of the organization comply with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) guidelines, the Value Added Tax (VAT) & Supplementary Duty Act, Income Tax laws, and other relevant regulatory compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

VAT Compliance & Management:

• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns (Mushak 9.1) accurately within the stipulated legal deadlines.
• Ensure proper issuance of sales VAT invoices (Mushak 6.3) and maintain input-output tax records.
• Issue VDS Certificates (Mushak 6.6) and ensure collection of withholding VAT certificates from vendors/clients.
• Prepare, submit and obtain approval for Input-Output Co-efficient / Price Declarations (Mushak 4.3).
• Maintain and update all mandatory VAT books and registers (Mushak 6.1, 6.2, 6.2.1, etc.) regularly.

Tax & TDS Management:

• Ensure accurate deduction of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and VAT Deducted at Source (VDS) at the time of vendor bill processing.
• Ensure timely deposit of deducted tax and VAT to the government exchequer via Treasury Challans.
• Assist in preparing corporate income tax returns and supporting documentation for tax assessments.
• Issue and distribute TDS and VDS certificates to suppliers and vendors as required.

Audit & Regulatory Compliance:

• Represent the company during VAT/Tax audits, inspections, and inquiries by regulatory authorities.
• Prepare necessary working papers, documentation, and reconciliations required for audit defenses.
• Coordinate with external auditors, ITPs (Income Tax Practitioners), and legal/tax advisors on regulatory matters.

Reporting & Risk Management:

• Identify potential tax/VAT risks, non-compliances, or exposure areas and report them to management with actionable solutions.
• Prepare monthly VAT and Tax reconciliation statements against the general ledger (GL).
• Stay updated on changes in tax/VAT laws, SROs, and circulars, and implement necessary process updates within the company.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive organizational matters.
