Education

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).
Professional Certification (Mandatory): Chartered Accountant (CA) qualified — FCA or ACA, and an active member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB).

Additional Requirements

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) will be considered a strong added advantage.
Total Professional Experience: 10 to 15 years of post-qualification experience in internal audit.
Leadership & Team Size: At least 5 years in a departmental or functional leadership role, with proven experience leading an internal audit team of at least 20 members.
Industry Background: Extensive experience within a large group of companies featuring multiple SBUs and diversified manufacturing operations (Tiles/Ceramic, Sanitary Ware, Steel, Plastics/Polymer).
Business Acumen, Risk Management, Stakeholder Management, Strategic Thinking, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Advanced Forensic/Investigative Skills.

Responsibilities & Context

AkijBashir Group, one of the country's leading diversified industrial conglomerates, is seeking a high-caliber Chartered Accountant to serve as Head of Internal Audit.

The Group's manufacturing operations span ceramics and tiles, sanitary ware, glass, aluminium, plastics and polymers, jute, and multiple Strategic Business Units (SBUs).

This executive leadership position is responsible for establishing risk-based audit strategies, strengthening corporate governance, evaluating internal controls, and directing a large team of audit professionals to ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across all business entities.

Key Responsibilities

Risk-Based Audit Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive, risk-based annual Internal Audit Plan aligned with the Group’s strategic objectives and risk profile.
Group-Wide Operational & Financial Audits: Lead multi-SBU internal audits covering financial operations, commercial activities, procurement, inventory management, sales, distribution, and HR functions.
Internal Control & Governance Governance: Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of internal control systems, risk management frameworks, and corporate governance protocols across all operating units.
Risk Mitigation & Process Gap Identification: Identify control weaknesses, operational inefficiencies, financial irregularities, and fraud risks, providing strategic recommendations for remediation.
SOP & Regulatory Compliance Review: Ensure strict adherence to company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), delegated financial authorities, statutory laws, and management directives.
Special Investigations & Forensic Audits: Direct special audits and forensic investigations into suspected fraud, financial irregularities, misconduct, or high-risk operational exposures.
Executive Reporting & Governance Board Presentations: Prepare clear, actionable audit reports and present critical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to Senior Management and governance committees.
Corrective Action Tracking & Follow-up: Implement robust follow-up frameworks to monitor and verify the timely resolution of audit observations across all SBUs.
Process Optimization & Cost Efficiency: Review core business workflows to drive process optimization, cost rationalization, accountability, and organizational control effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Talent Development: Mentor, direct, and manage an internal audit team of 20+ professionals while upholding strict independence, objectivity, integrity, and ethical standards.
