Overall Quality Leadership
- Lead and manage the complete Quality function across the factory/factories.
- Establish, implement and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System.
- Develop a strong prevention-based quality culture, rather than relying only on final inspection.
- Set factory-wide quality KPIs and ensure achievement through systematic monitoring.
- Establish clear quality standards, responsibilities and accountability at every stage of production.
- Work closely with Production, IE, Planning, Cutting, Sewing, Washing, Finishing, Merchandising and Technical teams to ensure quality is built into the process.
Buyer & Customer Quality Management
- Act as the key Quality representative for major international buyers.
- Independently handle buyer quality discussions, quality concerns, inspections, audits and technical issues.
- Understand buyer-specific quality manuals, workmanship standards, inspection procedures and tolerance requirements.
- Particularly manage and maintain strong relationships with Target/PSQA and ensure continuous compliance with their quality expectations.
- Prepare factories and teams for buyer visits, inspections and quality evaluations.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action for buyer complaints and inspection failures.
- Ensure buyer requirements are effectively communicated and implemented at factory level.
Defect Identification & Root Cause Analysis
The candidate must be strong in identifying the actual root cause of quality problems, not simply identifying defects.
He should be capable of:
- Identifying recurring and critical defects.
- Distinguishing between symptom, immediate cause, root cause and systemic cause.
- Conducting effective 5 Why, Fishbone and Root Cause Analysis.
Identifying whether the problem originates from:
- Cutting
- Sewing
- Washing
- Finishing
- Trims
- Fabric
- Workmanship
- Machine settings
- Operator skill
- Method
- Quality inspection
- Process control
- Training
- Poor communication
- Incorrect specifications or technical information
- Implementing corrective actions that permanently eliminate the source of the problem.
Corrective & Preventive Action – CAPA
- Develop strong Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) systems.
- Ensure every major defect has:
- Issue → Root Cause → Immediate Correction → Corrective Action → Preventive Action → Responsible Person → Timeline → Verification of Effectiveness.
- Monitor whether corrective actions are actually effective instead of simply closing issues on paper.
- Identify recurring defects and implement systemic preventive measures.
- Establish mechanisms to prevent the same defect from occurring in other lines, styles or factories.
QC Defect Detection Efficiency
A major responsibility will be to upgrade the capability and efficiency of the QC team.
The candidate must be capable of:
- Measuring and improving QC defect detection efficiency.
- Evaluating individual QC performance based on actual defect detection capability.
- Identify weak QCs and provide targeted coaching/training.
- Develop QC grading and competency evaluation systems.
- Improve QC knowledge of workmanship standards and critical defects.
- Ensure QCs can identify defects at the earliest possible process, rather than allowing defects to move downstream.
- Establish QC performance KPIs and real-time monitoring.
- Conduct regular QC calibration and defect-identification exercises.
- Develop training programs based on actual factory defect trends.
- Strengthen self-inspection, inline inspection, end-line inspection and finishing inspection systems.
Quality Control from Cutting to Shipment
- Ensure effective quality control throughout the complete manufacturing process:
- Fabric → Cutting → Printing/Embroidery → Sewing → Washing → Finishing → Packing → Final Inspection → Shipment
- The candidate should be capable of establishing effective control points at every stage and ensuring that quality issues are identified and controlled before reaching the next process.
First Output & New Style Quality Control
- Establish strong First Output / First Piece approval systems.
- Ensure production teams understand the approved sample, construction, workmanship and buyer requirements before bulk production.
- Review new styles and identify potential quality risks before production starts.
- Work with Technical, Sample, Production and Merchandising teams during pre-production.
- Ensure risk areas are identified through Pre-Production Risk Assessment.
- Establish effective Critical Operation Control Plans for high-risk styles.
Technical / Garment Engineering Knowledge
Strong technical understanding of garments is essential.
Candidate should have excellent knowledge of:

- Ensure factories remain continuously prepared for buyer audits and quality assessments.

- Ensure closure and verification of audit findings within agreed timelines.
- Maintain proper quality documentation and records.
- Ensure quality procedures are actually followed on the production floor and are not only documented.
