Project Brief: The organization, with support from UNHCR, has been implementing the project Community Empowerment Promoted through Skills Development Initiatives for Rohingya refugees in Cox`s Bazar. The 2026 project has three interrelated components. Skills Development and Economic Inclusion covers technical and higher-level training, English and life skills, digital and financial literacy, employment and self-employment support, business grants, and Green Innovation Hubs. Female Hygiene Materials and Social Business covers FHM and craft production, safe wage-earning opportunities, quality systems, and responsible market linkages. Information Management covers post-distribution monitoring, data quality and security, cleaned datasets, dashboards, and analytical reporting. Together, the components seek to strengthen self-reliance, economic inclusion, accountability, and community empowerment.
Job Statement: The Gas Stove Service Hub Technical Assistant will be responsible for providing hands-on technical support in the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, servicing, maintenance, and manufacturing of gas stoves and gas burners at the Service Hub established within UNHCR Skills Development Training Centers in the refugee camps of Ukhiya and Teknaf. S/he will assist in gas burner fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and quality control, as well as servicing burners, regulators, valves, ignition systems, and other related components. S/he will provide technical guidance to Hub members, ensure safe and quality service delivery, and support market surveys, procurement, price verification, and management of tools, spare parts, and raw materials. S/he will maintain accurate records of repair, manufacturing, sales, stock, inventory, and service activities and work closely with and under the supervision of the Technical Specialist (TS) to ensure effective operation of the Gas Stove Service Hub and delivery of GIH activities.
Job Responsibilities and Tasks
A. Key Activities:
Conduct daily inspection and routine checking of gas stoves, burners, regulators, valves, and related equipment.
Diagnose faults and assist with repair, servicing, maintenance, replacement, and testing of gas stove components.
Support the fabrication and manufacturing of gas burners, including cutting, drilling, welding, assembly, finishing, and functional testing.
Ensure proper quality control and safety standards during gas burner manufacturing, repair, and servicing activities.
Provide hands-on technical support and guidance to Hub members and beneficiaries on gas stove repair and maintenance.
Conduct regular preventive maintenance of tools, equipment, and service facilities and report technical issues to the Technical Specialist.
Assist with market surveys, quotation comparison, procurement, and price verification of spare parts, raw materials, tools, and equipment.
Maintain accurate repair, manufacturing, sales, stock, inventory, purchase, and service records.
Monitor the availability and proper use of spare parts, raw materials, tools, and consumables.
Support the Technical Specialist in ensuring the smooth operation and effective delivery of Gas Stove Service Hub activities.
B. Reporting Activities:
Support the Technical Specialist (TS) in preparing monthly reports, progress updates, and achievements of the Gas Stove Service Hub.
Maintain accurate records of repair, servicing, gas burner manufacturing, sales, stock, inventory, and procurement activities.
Report technical problems, safety issues, service status, and maintenance requirements to the Technical Specialist in a timely manner.
Submit required reports and records to the Technical Specialist (TS) within the agreed timeframe.
C. General Activities:
To assist project implementation team in conducting regular/monthly and need based meetings.
Regularly update the senior management on project progress and challenges in the field and ensure their timely solutions.
To ensure logistics and security to the project’s staff as per organization’s policies and procedures in coordination with Logistics department.
To create congenial/friendly working environment for all staff members and ensure appropriate learning culture adhering to all safeguarding issues.
To perform any other related duties or responsibilities when assigned by the organization/ project management.
Safeguarding and Ethics- The Gas Stove Service Hub Technical Assistant is expected to uphold the organization’s safeguarding policies, ensuring the protection of children and vulnerable groups from any form of abuse, exploitation, or harm.
