About this position

Looking for ~2 postdoctoral researchers to join Yasha Neiman's "Quantum Gravity Unit" at the Okinawa Institute for Science and Technology (OIST), starting in fall 2027.

While you'll be free to work on your own projects, the expectation is that you'll contribute to Yasha's research program on Higher Spin Gravity as a model for quantum gravity in 4d de Sitter. As such, experience with higher-spin theory is an advantage.

The position is for 2 years, with possible extension to a 3rd. You will have opportunities (but no requirement) to teach at the graduate level.

Our other group members in 2027 will be Franz Ciceri (staff scientist), Tom Wetzstein (postdoc), Jin Kozaki (PhD student), and perhaps 1-2 new PhD students. Adjacent faculty at OIST include Philipp Hohn, Matteo Parisi, and Reiko Toriumi.

OIST is an English-speaking institute in Okinawa, a sub-tropical island in the far south of Japan. It is international in composition, and offers extensive support for navigating daily life in Japan as a foreigner.

How to apply

  1. Read the full advert on the source site — it carries the authoritative terms.
  2. Prepare your SOP, CV, transcripts and referees before the deadline.

Job Summary: The winning candidate will work as a PostDoc at the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, CoolPhon Group in frame of the NCN Sonata Bis 9 project (UMO-2019/34/E/ST3/00432). Job Description: In our group we are building and testing pioneering low temperature functional nanostructures with a special emphasis on superconducting devices. Our expertise involves fast time-resolved thermometry of nanostructures based on the probing of Josephson junctions with short current pulses, which we call the switching thermometry [1, 2]. It allows us to trace the thermal transien
