About this course
International affairs questions are not only about organisations and treaties. They also ask about the French Revolution and the Industrial Revolution, about who rules where, about the South China Sea and the Sahel, about the Olympics and the Nobel Prizes, and about what happened last month. This course covers that wider field in twenty lessons: world history from ancient civilisations to the revolutions that made modernity; imperialism and decolonisation; then a region-by-region tour of South Asia, China, the United States, Russia and Eurasia, Europe, East and South-East Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The later lessons cover great-power competition, energy geopolitics, science and space, sport and culture, personalities, world superlatives, and a practical system for current affairs. Current affairs move fast. Facts here are accurate to the time of writing; verify office-holders, summits and results from a recent digest before your exam.
