About this course

English Language and Literature carry 35 marks in the BCS preliminary, and the language portion — grammar, usage and vocabulary — is the more predictable half. The written exam adds 200 marks of English, where grammar accuracy decides whether your translation, letter and essay answers earn full credit. This course organises English grammar into twenty focused lessons built around the question types BCS and other government exams actually ask: parts of speech, articles, tenses, subject-verb agreement, voice, narration, modals, prepositions, verbals, sentence transformation, clauses, error correction, vocabulary, idioms, spelling, analogy and comprehension. Each lesson explains the rule with clear examples, flags the traps examiners like to set, and ends with a five-question quiz. Work through the lessons in order, keep a personal "error notebook" of rules you get wrong, and revise it every week.
