About this course

The viva is the final stage of the BCS examination and the only one in which the board meets you. The marks are significant and the judgement is holistic: the board is assessing **suitability for public service**, not only knowledge. Confirm the viva marks in the circular for your own BCS — the Public Service Commission has changed the weighting between the written examination and the viva in recent years, and the current figure governs how much preparation time it deserves relative to the written papers. What does not change is what the board looks for: clarity of thought, honesty, composure under pressure, knowledge of your own background and subject, awareness of the country and the world, and the temperament of someone who will exercise public authority responsibly. This course covers every predictable area — personal background, district and education, honours subject, national history and constitution, current and international affairs, cadre-specific questions, situational ethics — along with etiquette, composure and a practical mock-viva method.
