About this course

Walk into any bookshop in Nilkhet and you will be handed a stack of BCS guides that weighs more than a small child. Most candidates buy them. Very few finish even one. The single most reliable predictor of a good preliminary score is not how many books a candidate owns — it is how many times they have been through the few that matter. This course is about that choice. You will learn which sources are genuinely primary (and mostly free), which commercial books are worth their price and for what specific job, how to work the ten-year past paper archive until it tells you the syllabus itself, how to build a current affairs habit that costs thirty minutes a day instead of two hours, and how to decide between coaching and self-study using arithmetic rather than anxiety. By the end you will have a written resource list of your own, a reading order, and a budget. A warning that applies to every page that follows. Book editions change every year, publishers rename series, prices move, and a fact that was current in one edition is wrong in the next. Nothing here is an endorsement, and no list can be authoritative for long. What lasts is the *method* for judging a source — so the lessons teach you to evaluate, and name widely-used titles only as examples of a category.
