About the Role
NZ I TECH / MYNZTRIP is looking for an experienced Senior .NET Engineer to join our Air API Development Team.
The selected candidate will develop, integrate, optimize, and maintain high-performance airline API services for our OTA ecosystem. The platform connects with airlines, GDSs, NDC providers, aggregators, and other travel suppliers and serves B2B, B2C, white-label, and external API customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable REST APIs using ASP.NET Core and .NET 8.
- Build and maintain flight search, pricing, booking, ticketing, cancellation, refund, void, and reissue services.
- Integrate and maintain GDS, NDC, airline direct-connect, LCC, and aggregator APIs.
- Call multiple supplier APIs concurrently and aggregate their responses into a standardized format.
- Implement asynchronous processing, timeout handling, retry policies, circuit breakers, cancellation tokens, and supplier isolation.
- Map and normalize XML, SOAP, REST, and JSON responses from different suppliers.
- Develop complex airline fare, tax, markup, discount, commission, baggage, ancillary, and fare-rule processing.
- Improve API response time, throughput, memory usage, connection management, and overall scalability.
- Implement structured logging, monitoring, correlation IDs, and supplier request/response tracing.
- Troubleshoot production issues involving timeouts, memory usage, thread exhaustion, incorrect fares, missing flights, booking failures, and supplier connectivity.
- Write unit, integration, API, and supplier integration tests.
- Review code, guide junior and mid-level developers, and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Collaborate closely with QA, DevOps, product, and business teams.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- 4+ years of strong C# and .NET development experience.
- Strong experience with ASP.NET Core, .NET 8, and Web API development.
- Strong third-party API integration experience.
- Excellent knowledge of async/await, Task, Task.WhenAll, CancellationToken, concurrency, and parallel processing.
- Hands-on experience with REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, HTTP, and HTTPS.
- Experience with LINQ, Entity Framework Core, Dependency Injection, and object-oriented programming.
- Strong understanding of SOLID principles, Clean Architecture, design patterns, and separation of concerns.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other SQL databases.
- Experience with Git, GitHub, Swagger, and OpenAPI.
- Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and production troubleshooting skills.
- Good understanding of API authentication, including JWT, OAuth 2.0, API keys, and Basic Authentication.
Preferred Skills
Experience with the following will be considered an advantage:
- Travelport/Galileo, Sabre, or Amadeus
- Airline NDC or direct-connect APIs
- GDS, PNR, fare pricing, ticketing, refund, void, and reissue workflows
- Redis and MongoDB
- AWS, IIS, Windows Server, and Linux
- Docker and microservices
- RabbitMQ or Kafka
- OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch
- High-concurrency and distributed systems
- Online Travel Agency platforms
Candidates without previous GDS experience may also apply if they have excellent .NET backend development and complex third-party API integration experience.
