Experience:
At least 4 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in legal aid, gender justice, GBV, sexual harassment, human rights, research, referral services, or access to justice.
Experience working with NGOs/INGOs, CBOs/CSOs, government institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
Practical experience in legal referral, case management, mediation and/or community-based legal services will be an advantage.
Experience in data collection, analysis, documentation and preparation of research/knowledge products.
Experience in developing concept notes, ToRs, reports, guidelines and other project documents.
Experience working in a consortium or multi-stakeholder project environment will be an advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of gender-based violence, sexual harassment, women`s and children`s rights and access to justice.
Good understanding of relevant laws, policies and institutional mechanisms relating to GBV, sexual harassment and online harassment.
Strong coordination, networking and stakeholder-management skills.
Good analytical, research and report-writing skills.Ability to collect, analyse and present qualitative and quantitative information.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
Good computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Workspace for research and data collection.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Good command of English and Bangla, both in writing and speaking.
Job Context: The Senior Legal and Research Officer will provide technical and coordination support for legal assistance, referral mechanisms, mediation, research, and knowledge management activities under the SHIKHA Project. The position will work closely with CBOs, CSOs, government institutions, service providers, research consultants, and consortium partners to strengthen access to effective legal support for women and children experiencing online harassment, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence (GBV).
Job Responsibilities:
Legal:
Establish and strengthen referral linkages with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and effective legal assistance for women and children experiencing technology-facilitated gender-based violence and gender-based violence.
Organise and facilitate coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders to strengthen legal support and referral mechanisms.
Coordinate legal support services, mediation initiatives and research-related activities under the project.
Maintain proper case documentation and ensure timely updates in the Case Management System (CMS).
Collect and document successful referral and mediation case stories from the field for reporting, learning and communication purposes.
Research:
Collect, compile and analyse data received from CBOs/CSOs on the prevalence and trends of GBV and sexual harassment in target areas.
Organise dissemination meetings to present findings and support advocacy initiatives with local government institutions, journalists, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders.
Provide technical and logistical support for capacity-building sessions for CBO and CSO representatives on referral mechanisms and service mapping.
Prepare activity reports and regularly update project tracking sheets and other monitoring tools.
Develop and update referral guidelines, referral registers, and other referral management tools for CBOs and CSOs.
Develop and update the referral book for CBOs and CSOs based on service-mapping findings.
Develop concept notes, Terms of Reference (ToRs), briefing notes and other relevant knowledge products.
Other Activities:
Coordinate with research consultants, technical experts, and other resource persons to support project implementation and research activities.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Team Lead, Project Management, or Supervisors.
