Operations Manager – IoT Solutions

Job Responsibilities

Delivery & Execution

• Own end-to-end operational delivery of IoT projects post-sale — from solution handoff, procurement, and installation through go-live and stabilization.

• Manage multiple concurrent IoT deployments across clients/sites, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

• Coordinate field teams, installation partners, and technicians for on-ground device/sensor deployment and commissioning.

• Serve as the operational escalation point when projects hit delays, technical issues, or resourcing conflicts.

Vendor & Supply Chain Management

• Manage relationships with hardware vendors, connectivity providers, and third-party installation/logistics partners.

• Oversee procurement and inventory of IoT devices, sensors, gateways, and related hardware to prevent deployment delays.

• Negotiate SLAs with vendors and hold partners accountable to delivery timelines and quality standards.

Process & Systems

• Build and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for IoT deployment, installation, and post-deployment support.

• Implement tracking systems/dashboards for project status, device inventory, installation progress, and issue resolution.

• Identify bottlenecks in the delivery pipeline and drive process improvements to increase speed and reduce cost per deployment.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Act as the operational bridge between Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to ensure smooth handoffs at every stage.

• Work with Sales to scope realistic delivery timelines during the pre-sale/proposal stage when needed.

• Partner with Product/Engineering on field issues, firmware updates, and device performance feedback loops.

Team & Resource Management

• Manage and mentor a team of field engineers, installation technicians, and/or junior operations staff.

• Plan resource allocation across projects based on scale, complexity, and timeline.

• Set performance metrics for the operations team and drive accountability against SLAs.

Reporting & Governance

• Prepare operational reports covering deployment status, budget/cost tracking, vendor performance, and issue resolution timelines.

• Present operational health updates to leadership, including risks, delays, and mitigation plans.

• Monitor and report on key operational KPIs (deployment time, cost per install, uptime/SLA compliance, customer satisfaction post-deployment).
