Nursing Operations
- Supervise and coordinate all nursing activities across assigned wards/units.
- Ensure proper patient care according to hospital standards and nursing protocols.
- Monitor nurses’ performance, discipline, attendance, duty allocation and shift handover.
- Prepare and maintain duty rosters according to patient load and staffing requirements.
- Ensure proper nurse-to-patient coverage during all shifts.
Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure patients receive safe, timely and compassionate nursing care.
- Monitor vital signs, medication administration, treatment procedures and patient progress.
- Ensure proper identification of patients and prevention of medication/procedural errors.
- Immediately report critical patient conditions to the concerned doctor and management.
- Handle patient and attendant complaints professionally.
Staff Supervision
- Allocate duties and responsibilities among nurses and nursing assistants.
- Conduct regular rounds and check nursing performance.
- Provide guidance, coaching and on-the-job training to nursing staff.
- Identify performance gaps and take corrective action through proper reporting.
- Maintain discipline, professional conduct and teamwork within the nursing department.
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure accurate maintenance of nursing notes, patient records, medication charts and handover reports.
- Check nursing documentation regularly for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare daily/shift reports and submit important issues to the Nursing Manager/Matron.
- Maintain records of incidents, complaints, medication errors and other nursing-related issues.
Infection Control
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control procedures.
- Monitor hand hygiene, PPE use, sterilization and proper waste disposal.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygienic conditions in nursing areas.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping, Infection Control and Maintenance when required.
Emergency & Clinical Coordination
- Ensure nursing staff are prepared for emergency situations.
- Coordinate emergency response, resuscitation and critical patient management.
- Ensure availability and proper use of emergency equipment and supplies.
- Coordinate effectively with Doctors, Pharmacy, Laboratory, OT, ICU and other departments.
Inventory & Equipment
- Monitor availability and proper use of medicines, consumables, instruments and nursing equipment.
- Check stock levels and submit timely requisitions.
- Prevent wastage, misuse and unauthorized use of hospital materials.
- Ensure proper maintenance and reporting of damaged equipment.
Quality & Compliance
- Implement hospital policies, SOPs and nursing standards.
- Conduct regular nursing audits and identify areas for improvement.
- Support hospital accreditation, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Leadership & Administration
- Act as the link between nursing staff, doctors and hospital management.
- Resolve routine operational issues promptly and escalate serious matters.
- Participate in nursing meetings, training programs and departmental reviews.
- Maintain professional leadership and ensure smooth operation of the nursing department.
Senior-Level Responsibility
- With 10 years of experience, provide strong clinical leadership and mentorship to junior nursing staff.
- Assist the Matron/Nursing Manager in policy implementation and departmental planning.
- Review staffing requirements based on patient occupancy and workload.
- Recommend staff training, performance improvement and disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Ensure 24/7 continuity, quality and safety of nursing services.
