Microbiology Scientific Officer

To perform microbiological examination of clinical specimens, including blood, urine, stool, sputum, wound swabs, pus, and other relevant samples.

To perform bacterial and fungal identification using appropriate microbiological and biochemical methods.

To perform Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) and maintain appropriate quality-control procedures.

To ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, transportation, processing, and storage in accordance with approved SOPs.

To monitor and maintain microbiological culture media, reagents, stains, kits, and reference materials.

To perform and document internal quality control and participate in external quality assessment/proficiency-testing programs where applicable.

To monitor microbiology laboratory biosafety, infection prevention, decontamination, and waste-management practices.

To maintain and monitor microbiology laboratory equipment and ensure timely calibration, maintenance, and performance checks.

To review, validate, and report microbiology results accurately and within the required turnaround time, including prompt communication of critical results.

To support laboratory audits, quality-improvement activities, staff training, and competency assessment.
