Project Background: Oporajita: Collective Impact for Just Transition for Women in the RMG Ecosystem builds on the achievements of its previous phase, completed in May 2026. The current phase focuses on strengthening and sustaining Women Cafés in Jamirdia and Gauripur (Bhaluka, Mymensingh), Savar (Dhaka), and Kashimpur (Gazipur).The project aims to establish self-sustaining, women-led Women Cafés as financially viable business and support hubs, providing women garment workers and former workers with opportunities for entrepreneurship, market linkages, peer learning, psychosocial well-being, leadership development, and community engagement.
The Leadership Development Facilitator will be based at the Women Café at the Union level /ward level and will play a key role in strengthening women’s leadership, collective action, self-initiative, and entrepreneurship for a self-sustaining Women Café under the Oporajita project, funded by the H&M Foundation and COS. The project aims to establish self-sustaining, women-led Women Cafés as financially viable business and support hubs that strengthen women’s economic empowerment, agency, and resilience through entrepreneurship, market linkages, peer learning, and community support. The facilitator will work closely with the Psychosocial Counsellor and Market Development Facilitator to strengthen the capacity of women to manage the café, promote harmony and collaboration among women-led enterprises, and encourage collective efforts toward long-term sustainability. The position will support women to build leadership, communication, decision-making, teamwork, conflict management, and business management skills, enabling them to take greater ownership of the Women Café and related enterprises. The facilitator will also play a key community-level role, fostering linkages, participation, collective initiatives, and community engagement to create an enabling environment for women’s enterprises to grow and become self-sustaining.
Responsibility # 1: Women Café Management, Community Engagement and Local-Level Coordination - 40%
- Coordinate the day-to-day operation and management of the Women Café at Union level, ensuring a safe, inclusive and women-led space.
- Mobilise women workers, farmers, entrepreneurs, youth and community members, including women outside formal employment, to engage with the Women Café.
- Coordinate with the Café Management Committee for planning, implementation and effective functioning of the café.
- Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, consultations and networking events at the community level.
- Establish and maintain coordination with Union Parishad, local government, social service providers, community leaders, women’s groups, private-sector actors and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate linkages between women and relevant government, social, financial, health, skills and other local services.
- Promote collective ownership, harmony, mutual support and shared responsibility among women and women-led enterprises.
- Strengthen the Women Café as a community-level platform for women’s leadership, enterprise development, networking and access to services.
Responsibility # 2: Capacity Building and Mentoring of Women Café Management Committee - 40%
- Strengthen the capacity, leadership, communication and ownership of the Women Café Management Committee for effective and sustainable café management.
- Establish transparent, accountable and participatory governance, financial management and decision-making systems.
- Build capacity on leadership, teamwork, conflict management, financial literacy, café management and basic business skills.
- Strengthen Savings Associations/Groups, including transparent savings management, record keeping and effective utilisation of women’s savings.
- Provide regular mentoring, coaching and follow-up support to the Café Management Committee, savings groups and women entrepreneurs.
- Support the development of business, sustainability and collective entrepreneurship initiatives to generate income and reduce dependency on project support.
- Facilitate peer learning, experience sharing and collective problem-solving among women.
- Maintain proper documentation of activities, referrals, participation and follow-up.
- Prepare regular progress, activity, success-story and learning reports and support KPI reporting.
- Support the MEAL/M&E team in monitoring, data collection, verification, assessments and learning activities.
- Serve as the CARE focal point at the local level, representing CARE in relevant government, community and stakeholder meetings.
- Coordinate with the Market Development Facilitator and Psychosocial Counsellor to ensure women receive timely and integrated support based on their needs.
- Prepare monthly work plan
Participate in meetings, workshop, training and activities in community level as assigned.
Perform any other duties as and when required.
