At GPORTAL, our vision is to build individual and easy-to-use online gaming experiences for the world. Driven by our “from gamer for gamer” passion, we've grown into one of the leading game server providers - offering more than just servers, unlike other hosting companies. For over 20 years, we've been bringing virtual worlds into people's homes with just a few clicks. Our mission: enabling experts and beginners alike to play their favourite games together with their friends. From Palworld and Enshrouded to Minecraft and Battlefield, we offer around 100 multiplayer games across every genre.

GPORTAL is looking for a Director Marketing who is ready to take the wheel of our entire marketing department, performance marketing, social media, partner management, community management, and graphic design. Reporting directly to our CEO, you will be part of the core management team from day one, with the kind of ownership over people and KPIs you will not find in every gaming company.

In your first six months, the priority is simple: keep the team running strong while you get a real feel for GPORTAL's business, our vision, and where we are headed. You will take full budget responsibility, from managing current spend and staying on top of marketing invoices to building the annual forecast. You will also size up the market to derive strategic conclusions on where we push next.

From there, you settle in as a driving force in our management team and sharpen how the marketing department works so it is well set up for the future. That includes working hand in hand with our tech teams on product-related topics such as checkout flows or game updates and launches. You also take full responsibility for onboarding, managing, and offboarding our external agencies and freelancers. On top of that, you build real connections with the marketing team over at Contabo Group to create synergies wherever possible. Just as important: brand visibility and closeness to the community. GPORTAL is a love brand to its players, and that needs to show up in the social channels and communication tools where our community actually lives.

Alongside that, you own our marketing campaigns with partner studios and the big moments like Black Friday. Last but not least, you advise our CEO directly on D2C pricing based on comprehensive market assessments, both the operative calls today and the strategic thinking further out.

Longer term, you push the KPIs that matter and build retention measures that keep players around. You also shape a team structure that can scale with us. That also means preparing and presenting marketing reporting and KPIs at Group and shareholder level. And you run and assess customer surveys, turning what you learn into decisions we actually act on.

Gaming is a volatile business, and the classic playbook does not always deliver a straight line to growth. We are all pulling for the same outcome for the wider group, which sometimes means short-term compromises we make together. In practice, that also means staying flexible and genuinely meeting people face to face rather than just online.

What convinces us

Ideally, you would have:

• a strong, hands-on track record leading holistic marketing departments, from performance marketing to social, community, and creative, backed by solid marketing controlling, budget management, and core KPI skills
• real performance marketing experience, paired with the ability to genuinely inspire a team toward a shared goal
• some background in IT or hosting, plus experience working with external agencies and freelancers
• gaming industry exposure is a nice-to-have, though a genuine feel for gaming culture matters just as much as the industry on your CV
• some exposure to influencer management or social media marketing, and enough confidence to step into a thought-leader role in the market when needed
• strong communication skills and a knack for handling conflict head-on, with a strategic, analytical mindset that connects campaigns to business outcomes
• a proactive, hands-on, reliable way of working, comfortable holding yourself to a high bar under pressure
• an open, global, adaptable mindset with genuine passion for the product and enough flexibility to compromise when the business needs it
• fluent German and English
