What it covers
A monthly stipend, health insurance, travel allowance and often a study and research subsidy for development-related Masters and PhD programmes in Germany.
Who can apply
Usually a Bachelors plus at least two years of relevant professional experience for EPOS courses. Each course sets its own academic requirements.
How to apply
- Find a development-related course in the DAAD scholarship database.
- Apply to the university for admission and to DAAD for the scholarship, following each course's own instructions.
- Provide proof of two years of work experience where the course requires it.
- Attend an interview if shortlisted.

Tips from successful applicants
- Public universities in Germany charge little or no tuition even without a scholarship — the stipend is the main benefit.
- Apply to two or three EPOS courses to improve your chances; each has its own deadline.
