What it covers
Full course fees and a grant for living costs for the duration of the course, for more than 200 new scholars a year across every Oxford department.
Who can apply
Open to graduate applicants of any nationality, including Bangladesh, for a full-time or part-time master's or DPhil at Oxford. Awards are made on academic merit and potential.
How to apply
- Choose your Oxford course and note its own January (or December) deadline.
- Apply for the course itself — there is no separate Clarendon form.
- Submit everything by the course deadline; a late course application forfeits the scholarship, not just a place in the round.
- Departments nominate their strongest applicants; offers follow the course offer.

- Research proposal (for a DPhil) or written work
- Personal statement
- Three academic references
- CV
- English language test where required
Tips from successful applicants
- The deadline that matters is your course's, which is far earlier than most people expect — start in the autumn.
- Clarendon is decided on academic merit, so the research proposal and written work carry most of the weight.
- Many Clarendon awards are held jointly with a college award; you do not apply for those separately either.
