What it covers
A monthly stipend and a conference and research-related travel allowance for up to three years of PhD study at a Hong Kong university, usually with the university adding a tuition waiver.
Who can apply
Open to PhD applicants of any nationality, including Bangladesh, for first-year full-time study at one of the participating Hong Kong universities. Academic record, research ability and communication skills are all assessed.
How to apply
- Submit an initial application to the scheme and obtain a reference number.
- Apply to up to two Hong Kong universities, quoting that reference number.
- Complete each university's own PhD application by its deadline.
- Universities shortlist and interview; results are announced in the spring.

- English language test where required
Tips from successful applicants
- The reference number from the initial application is required by the university forms — do that step first.
