Position Summary
- The Jiang Lab invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher
- position. The postdoctoral researcher will lead independent
- research projects focused on developing next-generation
- neurotechnology and biomedical imaging methods, with particular
- emphasis on optical, ultrasound, and photoacoustic technologies.
- Working under the supervision of Dr. Ying Jiang, the candidate will
- contribute to the development of innovative approaches for neural
- circuit interrogation while collaborating with interdisciplinary
- research teams and mentoring graduate and undergraduate
- students.
- This is an excellent opportunity for early-career scientists
- looking to develop a strong publication record and build an
- independent research trajectory within a highly collaborative and
- well-resourced environment.
- Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments,
- developing and integrating photoacoustic and ultrasound systems,
- validating technologies in animal models, and performing
- quantitative data analysis and computational modeling. The
- researcher will be expected to prepare manuscripts and conference
- presentations, contribute to grant proposals, help establish new
- technical capabilities and research directions within the
- laboratory, and work independently while contributing to a dynamic
- and collaborative research environment.
Basic Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied physics, neuroscience, or a closely related field
- Strong record of peer-reviewed publications
- Substantial hands-on experience in experimental system development, instrumentation, or quantitative biomedical research
- Strong programming and data-analysis skills in MATLAB and/or Python
- Demonstrated ability to independently design experiments, troubleshoot complex technical problems, analyze data, and communicate research findings
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

Additional Qualifications
Preferred Skills:
- Research experience in optics, ultrasound/acoustics, photoacoustics, biomedical imaging, neuromodulation, or neuroengineering, particularly experience involving the development, integration, calibration, or characterization of optical or ultrasound instrumentation.
