Postdoctoral Positions in Gravitational-Wave Physics at the Geneva Observatory

About this position

• We are pleased to invite expressions of interest for two postdoctoral
• positions funded by the SNSF Starting Grant “Towards Precision
• Astrophysics in the GW Sky”. The two postdoctoral researchers will
• join the group of Prof. Giulia Cusin at the Observatory of Geneva
• (Versoix, Geneva) and will pursue research in the following areas:
• (i) Gravitational-wave background forecasts and mapping with PTAs,
• with a focus on multimessenger approaches and on constraining the
• properties of the underlying source populations; (ii) Modelling of
• environmental and lensing effects, and their impact on GW observations
• and astrophysical inference.
• One of the positions will have a stronger data-analysis focus, while
• the other will be more modelling-oriented. We are looking for
• motivated and dynamic researchers with a strong background in
• gravitational-wave physics, although researchers from other fields who
• are motivated and eager to learn will also be considered.
• The successful candidates will join a dynamic and friendly research
• environment at the Observatory of Geneva, with research activities
• spanning a broad range of topics in astrophysics and cosmology. The
• Geneva area also hosts a large and active gravitational-wave
• community, offering ample opportunities for collaboration and
• interaction across different research groups.
• The positions are expected to start in autumn 2027, although earlier
• or later starting dates can also be considered. One position is for 2
• years, the other for 2+1 years. Applicants should hold a PhD in
• physics, astronomy, or a related field, or expect to obtain their PhD
• before the start of the position.
