About this position
- The Laboratoire d’Annecy de Physique Théorique (LAPTh) invites
- applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical cosmology
- within DarkES, a joint ANR–DFG research project co-led by Dr. Azadeh
- Moradinezhad (LAPTh) and Prof. Julien Lesgourgues (RWTH Aachen
- University).
- The project aims to develop a robust and efficient framework for
- probing the nature of dark matter and neutrinos with
- large-scale-structure (LSS) observations. The focus will be on
- incorporating a broad range of neutrino and dark-matter models into
- predictions for the power spectrum and bispectrum of galaxies and
- intensity maps, with particular emphasis on spectroscopic galaxy
- surveys, including the ESA Euclid mission, and 21-cm intensity mapping
- with the SKA Observatory (SKAO).
- The project will generalize analytical methods, in particular the
- Effective Field Theory of Large-Scale Structure (EFTofLSS), to include
- massive neutrinos and non-standard dark matter. The work will combine
- theoretical modeling with N-body simulations and forecasts for Euclid
- and SKAO, with the longer-term goal of applying the framework to the
- Euclid spectroscopic galaxy sample.
- Qualifications. A PhD focused on cosmology completed by the start
- date; familiarity with perturbative modeling of biased tracers of LSS;
- a strong command of analysis of N-body simulation to validate analytic
- predictions of clustering statsitics; and ideally experience with
- galaxy survey data analysis. Strong programming skills in Python and C
- are expected.
- Supervision and environment. The position will be supervised by Dr.
- Azadeh Moradinezhad within the Astroparticle and Cosmology group at
- LAPTh (astrocosmolapth.com). The successful candidate will work
- closely with the group of Prof. Julien Lesgourgues at RWTH Aachen and
- the group of Prof. Mathias Garny at the Technical University of
- Munich, and will have the opportunity to join the Euclid Consortium.
- Two PhD students will also be involved in the DarkES project, offering
- opportunities for co-supervision. The position provides access to
- CNRS/LAPTh computing resources and travel support, as well as
- interactions with the broader regional community (e.g. University of
- Geneva and CERN).
- Terms. The appointment is for two years. Salary on the CNRS scale,
- commensurate with experience, including social security and health
- coverage. The expected start date is 1 October 2027, with some
- flexibility.
