- Graduate teaching assistant (GTA) instructs introductory
- composition courses in ENGL 101, ENGL 102 or ENGL 210 for the
- English department.
Job Summary
- The primary function of a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) is to
- provide direct instruction. GTAs have the latitude to make
- independent decisions, use judgment and exercise discretion when
- dealing with student matters. In either case, the main purpose and
- responsibility of GTAs is to impart knowledge or training to
- students at Wichita State University.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree
Additional Requirements
GTA applicants must be admitted to either the English MA or MFA
program in full standing.
Required Experience
- To be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to a
- degree program in either full or conditional standing. Students
- admitted on probation or placed on academic probation following
- admission may be eligible for assistantship awards under certain
- circumstances.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a
- computer and other office equipment including but not limited to
- phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate
- with others and accurately exchange information.
