Advertised Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this Postdoctoral Fellow position is to drive statistical methodology and applied research for an R01-funded project focused on digital biomarker discovery. Under the direct mentorship of Dr. Ghosal and co-PI Dr. Cui, the fellow will lead the development and execution of advanced functional and distributional data analysis techniques. This role requires independent analytical acumen to design simulation studies, process complex real-world data, and translate analytical outcomes into high-impact methodological and applied manuscripts for tier-1 peer-reviewed journals.
Furthermore, the scholar will contribute to the broader scientific community by developing well-documented, open-source statistical software in R, presenting research at major biostatistics conferences, and providing guidance to graduate and undergraduate students, all while receiving continuous support for their own professional growth and independent research career.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:
- Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty by the start date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Track record of successful publications in peer-reviewed journals. Strong understanding of functional data analysis, longitudinal data analysis, and related Statistical concepts.
- Some experience with analyzing wearable or digital biomarker data.
- Clear communication and presentation skills for engaging effectively with faculty investigators and project teams on research activities and results.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge: A strong working knowledge and prior research experience in the area of functional data analysis are sought. Experience with distributional data analysis is desired but not necessary.
- Skills: Strong statistical and computational skills. Proficient in statistical computing in R and/or Python.
- Abilities: The following capabilities are desired: independent research capabilities, analytical acumen, attention to detail, initiative, and ethical conduct of research.

Methods Development: The Postdoctoral Fellow will directly work with the investigator team in developing and executing the methodological aims proposed in the grant. Responsibilities include development of methods and/or theory, designing simulation studies to assess performance, processing real data, and performing comprehensive real data analysis.

Manuscript Writing: Write methodological articles for tier-1 statistics or biostatistics journals and perform thorough literature reviews. Write applied articles on the scientific findings of the methods. Collaborate with investigators and research teams to prepare scholarly manuscripts, ensuring clear and accurate presentation of statistical analyses and research findings.
Responsibilities include drafting and editing sections related to study design, methods, results, and statistical interpretation. Assist in the development of high-quality tables, figures, and visualizations to effectively communicate complex data and analytic outcomes for publication and professional presentations. Ensure all reporting practices adhere to journal guidelines and established best practices, facilitating transparent, reproducible, and impactful dissemination of research results.
